A Creative Mornings talk with my friend and one of my favorite Twin Cities denizens, Robyne Robinson. Robyne is best known as an Emmy-winning news broadcaster in the Twin Cities – she was the first African American prime time anchor in Minnesota. Robyne also produced and hosted the first nightly arts and entertainment segment in a major newscast. She is only the second African-American to run for higher office in the state of Minnesota as a candidate for Lieutenant Governor.
On August 4th-6th, artists and community organizers from the Twin Cities will host the first MidWest Mixed Conference, to explore themes connected to multiracial identities & families with art at the center. In a nation and world that has a growing number of people who identify as mixed race, we see the urgency of shining light on the diverse experiences of mixed people and families, as well as putting forward stories that can both unite us, and also deepen our analysis of the state of racial issues in this world.
Eat for Equity, Lily Springs Farm, and Skywater Studios present Wild Springs Festival - a weekend of food, music, and community - located biking-distance from the Twin Cities on July 29-30.

It presents a nontraditional perspective of living with cancer that is not only cathartic and direct, but also provocative, playful, and at times irreverent.
